I’m Lame and Forgot the Dinner Pictures

I was so excited about dinner at Tomiko tonight that I forgot to snap photos. I’m lame.

We had a Groupon for an appetizer, two entrees, and two glasses of house wine. Mat worked there about 5 years ago when he lived in Encinitas, about a year and a half before we started dating. This was the fourth time we’d come for dinner, the first being a little over four years ago when we’d been dating only a few months. It’s nostalgic to be back in Encinitas for the night – takes me back to the beginning of our relationship. It’s so crazy that now, four and a half years later, we’re married.

But, backing up to earlier today, we spent a couple hours this afternoon wandering around Encinitas. We went to Whole Foods to get protein bars and a banana – the same Whole Foods we wandered in last time we were here.

We also found the gelato place from last time and shared a scoop of salted caramel chip and a scoop of amaretto.

Then we wandered into a used bookstore where I saw some fun old cookbooks.

We bought a book by the Dalai Lama that looks really interesting. And only $7! I love supporting small shops like that.

Before we went back to get ready for dinner, we went to watch the last of the sunset.

Views like that are why I can never leave California. It may be expensive and overcrowded and not have true seasons, but there’s something amazing about living right on the edge of everything. Plus it’s just plain gorgeous.

And now we’re settling in to watch the season finale of Breaking Amish. Three day weekends are amazing.

How are you spending your weekend?
