I’ve Officially Become One of THOSE Pet People

I went to Petsmart after work today and bought this stuff.

Cat carrier, pink fuzzy thing for inside the carrier, and two catnip toys that she’s already gone INSANE over.  And yes, she decided to dart into the picture because I had just put both toys on the ground.

I also got her a cute pink and green collar and a pink heart-shaped tag.

Mat managed to get a close up of the tag.  Having never owned a pet on my own before, it was my first time engraving the tag at the machine at Petsmart.  It’s really cool – you buy the tag and they give you a code to put in the machine.  The touch screen walks you through the very easy process of deciding what to write on the front and back and even has fun fonts.  Then you get to watch as the laser engraves it for you.  The whole thing took about 5 minutes.

The back of the tag just has our names and phone number in normal font.  I don’t think she’ll ever get out, but it’s peace of mind for me for her to have a tag.  Plus it’s just so dang cute!

I’ve become one of those people who drops too much money on their pet.  In my defense though, half the cost was the carrier which we were going to need sooner or later.

With all the breakdowns I’ve been having lately, I think Oakley came into our lives at the perfect time.  She’s so sweet and gives me that much-needed serotonin in the brain. 🙂

Tonight is ballet night – I don’t like that class is from 7-8:30, especially since I’ve been having trouble sleeping lately, but I think it will be good for me.  I just need to make sure and be kind to my knee.  I pulled the back of it during the Long Beach Half last month and I keep re-pulling it by over stretching at ballet.  I need to remember to not stretch too much until it’s fully healed – I’m so bad at that!

Wish me luck!

  1. So, though my kitty LOVES his carrier (he’s literally napping in it RIGHT NOW) I CANNOT get him to wear a collar. 😦 I was so excited to use one of those machines, but I couldn’t afford it right then I tried a cheapy tag attached to a collar I picked out for him and he FOUGHT it so much!!! I had to take it off him because I didn’t want him to catch his teeth in it! Maybe I could try again since he’s a little older and calmer now. Plus, I’d love to let him out, he’s a total wannabe outdoor cat! 🙂
