Breakfast for Dinner

I swear, we’re obsessed with Friday night eggs lately.

I hit Starbucks this morning and had a venti skinny caramel macchiato.  It was necessary.

And a turkey bacon breakfast sandwich, but I inhaled that as I was helping a former student with her math.  She came back to ask me.  🙂

I’m thinking I’m going to get up at 5 again tomorrow to run.  Yes, it’s Saturday, but it’s just too hot otherwise.  This way, I can knock out at least half of my run before it starts getting too hot.  And, I’ll have more time to rest and then get ready for Nicole and Ryan to come over tomorrow night.  I have quizzes to grade too, and I’d really rather not leave them until later in the weekend.

I wouldn’t be nearly as likely to entertain the 5 am on Saturday thought if it wasn’t a 3-day weekend.

Whether I get up at 5 or 6, it’s still time for bed.  I’ve hardly sat down all day, even though it’s Friday!

Mmm Paninis!

In dance production today we ran the mile.  I ran with the girls and finished in 8:33.  I never knew what my 1 mile time was until today.  I was hoping it was closer to 8 or even under 8, but I really wasn’t pushing it today because it was afternoon and pretty hot/muggy.  I also have never run the track with a bunch of other kids around so I guess I was a little cautious.  Still though, 8:33 wasn’t bad at all.

My afternoon snack was simple: Greek yogurt with cereal and honey:

I got the dance shoes ordered today and hope the order the bags soon too.  Hopefully the reimbursement goes through quickly.  I’d really rather not be out $400 for several months.

Dinner was paninis.  Tuscan bread with pesto, mozzarella cheese, avocado, spinach, and heirloom tomatoes.  Paired with salad.

There was half an avocado left, so naturally we ate it on the side.

He ate two.  Except I sort of had the last few bites of his second one.  Shhhh….

Look at that oozy gooey goodness!

Seriously delicious.  The only downside to paninis is that you always think they’re going to be fast but they’re not.  Hence it is 9:45 and I’m finally writing this post.  Oh well.  They were worth it.  Sooo good!

Tomorrow is Friday and then a 3 day weekend!  Almost made it through the first full (tiring) week of school!

Show Me the Money!

Today is a FABULOUS day.  I slept in a little (until 6) and didn’t run.  I’ll run the mile with the dance girls later today, but that’s ok because to me one mile is EASY.

Today, we are getting three paychecks.  Mat gets paid today (his THIRD this month) and I’m getting two.  Why?  Well, I have the paycheck planner set up so that each paycheck during the year has a certain percentage deducted that then pays me during the summer. Tomorrow is my second such paycheck of the summer.  Then, because our district switched from 10 paychecks per school year to 11, I get my first check of the new year tomorrow.  Can we say YAY?!?!

This three paycheck thing means all the bills get paid (obviously), we can stash a crapton toward the house down payment, we can stash enough to buy Christmas gifts for everyone, and we can stash some more toward next summer’s Hawaii trip.  On top of that, I can buy new running shoes and maybe we can both get a few new shirts or something.

Too bad every month isn’t like that!

I Made a Magnet

I got an email on Tuesday from Shutterfly with a promo code to get a free magnet.  Since we just received all our wedding photos that same day, I decided to take advantage of it.  I got the same email with the same promo code last year and used it to make a magnet with one of our engagement pictures.  Seems to me that having one with a wedding picture follows nicely.  🙂

I was browsing for a picture, knowing that I wanted to use one of the formal ones from The Summit House because the lighting was just so dang awesome.

Want to know which one I picked?

Wait for it…

Wait for it…

Yippee!  I can’t wait for it to come!!

I was supposed to go to ballet tonight after dance production rehearsal, but luckily I checked on the schedule at the studio since I know they’re transitioning over from the summer schedule to the fall schedule.  It turned out that the fall schedule class I thought was happening tonight was not, and the summer class I’ve been going to for the last several weeks on Thursday afternoons is not happening tomorrow.  I guess I’m either skipping this week or I’m going on Sunday or early next week.  I haven’t decided yet, but I’m pretty sure Sunday won’t happen.  It’s too much with church and then going to hang out with Steph.

I was pretty productive when I got home tonight.  I got my lunch made for tomorrow, got clothes from today put away and got clothes out for tomorrow, finished the thank you notes, caught up on some blog stuff, and then got around to dinner.

Dinner was leftovers from last night’s Brussels sprouts spaghetti, paired with a salad:

And some chocolate chips for dessert:

Since Mat randomly had to work a closing shift tonight, I was on my own.  I’m not a fan of him being gone at night, but in some ways it wasn’t so bad because it’s probably the first time I’ve had some quiet “me time” in many many days.  I was looking for some tv to watch as I ate, and voila!  So You Think You Can Dance!  I haven’t seen that show in a LONG time, largely because it was often too painful to watch as I went through all of my ballet issues (check out the dancing page).

Now, of course, it’s making the whole bitten by the performing bug thing worse.

I’m so glad to be getting up at 6 instead of 5 tomorrow.  Finally on the downhill part of this first full week!

They’re Done!

What’s done, you ask?  Our thank you notes!

They actually were done a while ago but have been sitting on our coffee table for a couple weeks.  We wanted to include a wallet size photo in them as an extra little thank you for our guests.  However, that meant we waited to see the pictures and then picked one.  But it’s all good, because it’s JUST TODAY 2 months since our wedding.  😀

There were a lot of thank you notes:

On a side note, I used picmonkey.com for the first time to blur out the addresses.  It worked quite well!  I can’t to experiment with picmonkey again for text and other fun stuff!

Leftover “Pasta” and a Funny Cartoon

For lunch today, I finished off the zucchini pasta from the other night.  It’s the second day in a row I’ve had dinner leftovers instead of a sandwich!  Yesterday I finished off the quinoa salad that I made when Diana was here.

Yesterday’s Lunch

Today’s Lunch

I had an apple with lunch both days.

Mat sent me a pretty hilarious cartoon today:

I’m having a hard time working the blog into my new schedule.  Once I start to get it where it’s working better, I have a super busy couple of days and I miss a post.  Argh!  Any advice from those who work full-time and blog?
